The Egyptian Exile (Joseph to the Promised Land)

Undoubtedly the most central part of biblical history is the Exodus from Egyptian bondage. It is also, however, one of the most controversial. There is some difficulty over how long the Israelites were in Egypt following the famine during Joseph’s time. For this chart, "The Egyptian Exile," we have used the dates that are most likely in accord with the narrative given in the Hebrew Bible. This chart carefully depicts the persons in Jacob’s family and events of their stay in Egypt, period of bondage, exodus, and finally the forty years of wandering in the wilderness before entering the Promised Land.
